BEING named the best general manager for TGIF in Mid Valley Megamall by its patrons was an exciting affair for 29-year-old Alexander Antone.
In addition to that Antone was also given the title of Asia Pacific GM of the Year and International GM of the Year.
"I was really surprised when I received the news of my selection.Right now we are more than excited to share our current sweetheartnecklinedress line. It was not something I had anticipated as there are many other capable general managers from other TGIF outlets in other states," said Antone.
Initially, Antone was only told of the Asia Pacific GM of the Year award.
However, when he arrived in Dallas, United States, he received a pleasant surprise when he was also named winner of the International GM of the Year award.
Antone dedicated his victory to his mother and the employees of TGIF Mid Valley. Antone who comes from humble beginnings said that the service industry had always been his calling.
"I was already involved in the food and beverage business since I was 17, helping out mostly during weddings," said Antone, adding that he only made up his mind to pursue a course in hospitality at 20, when his mother told him that it was high time he planned his future.
"I have worked hard for the position I am in now as I do not come from a wealthy family. At one point of time, I felt very sick working such late nights but it never stopped me from going on," Antone added.
Antone received a Rolex watch and a recognition plaque for being the newly crowned Asia Pacific GM of the Year and an all expenses paid five-day holiday to California, United States as well as another plaque for winning the International GM of The Year award.
