Reebok International has launched its campaign to collect shoes for Soles4Souls during August.
During the month of August, individuals can drop off their new or gently worn shoes at several Rebok outlets including the outlet at Vacavilles' Nut Tree Premium Outlets. Customers will receive $5 off the purchase of a new pair of shoes when donating an old pair. In addition, Reebok will donate $1 to Soles4Souls for each discount redeemed. Formed as a relief effort following the 2004 Southeast Asian tsunami, Soles4Souls has donated more than 20 million pairs of shoes across 127 countries.
With 1 in 4 adults in the world living on less than one dollar a day, basic necessities like shoes are not readily available, corporate officials noted. A pair of shoes can protect an individual's feet from cuts and infection that can be life threatening if untreated.
"Bringing relief to people in need is something that has always been a hallmark of the Reebok brand," said Marcy Schwam, Reebok's director of retail marketing. "We are delighted that we can help people around the world experience a higher quality of life through this important campaign."
Soles4Souls partners with progressive companies in the footwear and fashion industries to directly impact the lives of people suffering from natural disasters or striving to break free from poverty.
