The Cameron County Bar Association Women’s Law Section is about to put a new bounce in students’ steps.
The organization is starting a new community service campaign this year, the Sneakers for Students program. The Women’s Law Section is asking for monetary donations that will provide students in need with a voucher to buy a pair of shoes.
“We just voted on it. We wanted to help the children of Cameron County, especially with back-to-school shopping,” Noemi Garcia, from the Women’s Law Section, said.
The Women’s Law Section will contact school counselors and administrators to determine which students are homeless or in need of monetary assistance. These students will receive the vouchers for shoes.
