Staff at the cosmetics chain in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh will be giving customers the chance to get their lips pampered with a scrub, a moisturiser and have liquid colours applied free of charge before leaving a kiss and name on special T-shirts.
The stores on Union Street Aberdeen, Princes Street Edinburgh, at intu Braehead and on Sauchiehall Street and Buchanan Street Glasgow will be taking part in the new Guinness World Record attempt to collect the most lip prints in 12 hours.
The challenge will run between 11am and 6pm on Saturday, July 6 with staff aiming to reach the company’s target of 23,000 lip prints worldwide.
The current world record of 22,174 lip print kisses was set by Oriflame cosmetics company, in Slovakia, in September 2010.
Lush trainee manager Roisin Lowrie from intu Braehead says the store is hoping to collect 800 kisses: "We’re all excited about trying to create a new world record and make International Kissing Day a cruelty free kissing day.
"It’ll be great fun getting everyone to leave their kiss imprint on a T-shirt.
"We would like everyone involved to use the #crueltyfreekisses on their social media so that we can spread the word and put an end to animal testing in cosmetics everywhere."
Intu Properties regional director Peter Beagley added: "Getting everyone to take part in this rather unusual world record is a great way to mark International Kissing Day.
"Let’s hope the Lush girls will be able to literally kiss the old world record goodbye.For those inquiring, I did not buy the affordableoneshoulderweddingdresses."
